Frank Zappa - Baby Snakes (Complete Soundtrack)

This post is of my favorite era of Mach II of Mr. Zappa's amazing career (well, some can argue that post "you are what you is" is going the way of the buffalo per se',but thats neither here nor there. especially in the middle of my Zappa post damnit.). Originally, the Baby Snakes soundtrack consisted of an edit of the title track (which I never got, because that intro gets you going),paired up with 6 of the live tracks from the movie. Sure, you get the awesome Bozzio crooned love story about the guitar player from Angel (Punky's Whips),but no City of Tiny Lights? No King Kong with the human trombone solo? None of that mind-blowing drum solo before Disco Boy??? Dare I call it blasphemy, but I'd rather call it fucking stupid. No diss to Frank or any of the Zappa Family Trust (Im going to ZPZ again this year hehe, don't hate me Dweezil <3) but I stick by the words I chose. So what do you do when you have a pretty good reciever slaved out to your laptop? You dub down the entire movie and make a Baby Snakes Sdtk Redux. Everything in its completion is here (and in decent quality nonetheless) to make your eardrums bust several nuts. You can thank me later kids.

  1. I belive that Frank Zappa really DID go to Hell--no fooling. He had no love for God (or for women, for that matter), and over the years many, many unperceptive people have followed his lead downward--what gem.

Too bad being original or talented isn't enough to get someone into Heaven--and being a big star doesn't help, either. I feel sorry that his family feels obligated to defend his huge output of philosphical garbage for the rest of their lives--that must be loads of fun.

Rest in peace, Frank--if you can.

  2. Oh shush Lori. Zappa is god. You people make me sick.

Long live Zappa's career of outstanding music. Way ahead of its time and still sounds fresh today.

  3. Oh, yes--what a god--I find his woman-degrading songs especially enchanting. For some reason all the guys I knew in the 70's who thought Zappa was all that ended up dying young of alcoholism (one died before he even got out of his 20's), and died alone, too. He's one of the heroes of the woman-hating class--nervy, demeaning, and absolutely no sense of shame--he's a real winner. Someone I just recently read compared his work to Robert Crumb's, saying that it was, unfortunately, also permanently marred by his misogyny--I think that puts it nicely.

I’d like to know just what kind of convoluted nonsense the Zappa fans spew to defend these truly awful songs—as if lyrics like this could EVER have any kind of ”higher purpose”--give me a break.

Oh, and Kevin--just like Zappa had every right to say anything he wanted to in his music, Lori has every right to say she doesn't like him OR his music--she even has every right to say that he represents Hell itself, if she wants to, like I do--free speech is a wonderful thing.

This page IS titled "People who are going to Hell"--I'd like to know at what point this become anything desirable--lol.

  4. Bringing religion into a non-religious conversation merely demonstrates the speaker's mental ineptitude with the subject at hand. Perhaps it would be more prudent (and less humiliating for you) to put down the book you use to legitimize your ill-informed hatred and instead pick up Frank Zappa's autobiography "The Real Frank Zappa Book" in order to educate yourself about the artist you chose to so childishly vilify. Hopefully this self-education will lead to a more mature opinion based on fact and not one so akin to an uninformed and immature child.

Keep in mind that I hold no malice towards those who do not care for Zappa's music. It is often brilliant, convoluted, beautiful, and very difficult to listen to. However, I feel that before you negatively criticize another person's art, you should try and educate yourself about a man whose talents far outshine your own--a fundamental truth to accept before listening to any music of any kind. Then and only then can you give a review which people will respect.
